Paris Fashion Week – Alexander McQueen Spring 2011

When Alexander McQueen passed so suddenly, the fashion world mourned and held their collective breath, worried about the fate of his eponymous line. It would take some serious talent and cajones to fill his ridiculously fashionable shoes.

In her first solo show for the design house, Sarah Burton proved that McQueen’s memory and his artistic legacy will live on for years to come.

Burton became creative director after McQueen’s untimely death – having worked closely with the designer for 14 years, you can almost see his influence in her creations. Her understanding of his aesthetic was spot on, and she showed elegant, extravagant garments with all of the characteristic drama of House of McQueen.
